It's Time to Renew your Membership!

REMINDER:  It’s time to renew your membership for the 2009-2010 Season!!  If you / your skater plans to skate at all over the summer, the membership must be renewed before it expires on June 30, 2009.  If you are not skating over the summer, you can renew at the Fall Registration night in August.

Graduated Seniors – don’t forget about the Collegiate Membership – it’s a great, and inexpensive way to keep up your USFS membership, keep getting Skating Magazine, and allows you unlimited Drop-In privileges on Berkley Club Ice when you are home on breaks!

Fall Registration Night Scheduled
Mark August 27th on your calendars.  Fall Registration will be held at the Berkley Community Center this year (this is a change from the past few years!)  Registration will be open from 6-8pm.  Ice Show Information will be available for pickup.  We are also hoping to have Lynn Martin there to take measurements for anyone who wishes to order a custom costume for the upcoming competition season.

A Note about the 09-10 Season
It is more important than ever that parents get involved with the BRBFSC board.  We have a lot to accomplish this year to attempt to save the investment the City of Berkley made 34 years ago.  ALL board meetings are open to ALL members.  Your opinion, your voice, matters!  The meetings generally take place the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Huntington Woods Rec Center.   If you plan to attend, and wish to confirm the date/time/place of the meeting - email our president, Christine Trimpe.

Huntington Woods Garage Sale
Thanks to all the families who donated items for sale, and who volunteered to work at the Garage Sale in May.  A special thank you to the Anderson family, who donated the use of their home for the garage sale!  This fundraiser brought in over $600!

Car Wash

Put JULY 18 on your calendars!  BRBFSC will be holding a Car Wash at O'Mara's.  Hoses, buckets, sponges and towels will all be needed (as well as car washers!)  This is a great fundraiser for the kids to get involved in - and will start earning your points for volunteerism/fundraising for the 09-10 season! 

Congratulations
Cal Carson - dad of alumni Meredith Carson, and former president of BRBFSC was recently elected president of Metro Council!  Metro Council is an association of area figure skating clubs that works for the benefit of all area clubs.  Cal has been our delegate to Metro Council ever since his presidential term ended.  Although no longer a board member at BRBFSC, he is still an active participant at board meetings, especially in his role as Metro Council Delegate.  Way to go Cal!

Welcome!

BRBFSC welcomes Craig Joeright as the new Learn to Skate and Ice Show Director at the Berkley Ice Arena.  Craig has lots of energy and new ideas for the upcoming season!

The Virtual Blades display is updated through the 6/3 test session at Royal Oak!

Test Sessions
Three area clubs, Berkley, Birmingham and North Suburban in Royal Oak, rotate test session throughout the season, and offer skaters from all three clubs "in-club" testing fees.

Our Test Chair, Kate Griswold is always seeking volunteers to help work at Berkley Test Sessions - please contact her at kate@kaleidoscopeconcepts.com if you are able to help!  The approximate hours are 8am-4pm.

08-09 Season Tribute Video
Once again, Meghan Steingold has created a great video tribute to the members of BRBFSC for the 2008-2009 Season.  This is one of the videos that was shown at the BRBFSC banquet.

If your skater has recently begun testing, and you would like to add them to the blade case, complete the order form and leave it with the Ice Monitor.   See Trudy Calder for more information.

Virtual Test Display
We've taken the Blade Display at the Arena, and placed it online!  If you would like to order blades for the actual display at the arena, please contact Trudy Calder for more information (see information above).  Click here to view the Blade Display online!

We Prefer CHECKS!
For drop in cards, or dropping in on sessions, BRBFSC prefers checks!  Checks are more secure, and make it easier for us to reconcile payments.  If you have no other form of payment, we will take cash, accompanied by a gentle reminder that we prefer checks!

Cookbooks are still available!
With over 200 recipes, the cookbook "Lutz Get Cooking with the Berkley Royal Blades" makes a great gift!  Get your copies now for $10 each!  You can pick up cookbooks from Lisa Anderson, Sandy Engman, Charlene Haines or Kate Griswold at the rink - between the four of them, there should be cookbooks available at the rink every night we skate.  We ask that you please pay for the cookbooks as you take them to assist our recordkeeping!
